Individual Stories of the Revolution in North Carolina
Wednesday, April 15
11a
You may be familiar with ways that Revolutionary heroes like George Washington, Nathanael Greene, and the Marquis de Lafayette influenced North Carolina. Yet the State Archives preserves many other stories of bravery and transition during the Revolutionary War. Learn about a woman who pled for her husband's life, a Patriot major general, two enslaved men whose actions led to their emancipation, a loyalist banished from his family, an American Indian injured at the Battle of Guilford, and more. An array of documents will showcase a variety of individual experiences during this pivotal time in history.
